It is nearly thirty years since Deirdre acquired her first highland ponies and at that stage she was anticipating breeding part breds for performance work but partially by luck and the judgement of Cath McVicar who found her Alick of Litigan as a potential stallion her foundation stock provided the basis for ponies who with the test of time were to be good all round animals capable of turning their hand to the demands of a family life and if they returned to the natural environment from which they had come would happily have fitted as the jack of all trades pony for the crofter.

From time to time new ponies have been added and there is now a strong Carrick influence and most of the ponies carry Cameron, Jura of Whitefield, Glentromie Trooper and other influential stallions genes, and very recently ponies with precious Croila bloodlines.

The influence of foundation mare Succoth Sarah with Trowan bloodlines has also been carefully preserved and this family is breeding very true to type, active ponies but despite them being smaller would have been favoured as deer ponies in their natural environment.

Although the stud has had a lot of success both in the show ring and performance world the ponies have not been bred specifically to win in the show ring but to preserve the precious bloodlines which have stood the test of time and to make a tiny contribution the Highland Pony breed in the years to come.
